How to do a quality English and Chinese translation?

Some guidelines are useful:
  1. free translation (pragmatic level of the content) is better than literal translation (semantic level of the content).
  2. dissimilarities in English and Chinese langugages: English---hypotaxis, Chinese---parataxis; English---nouns are more preferable than verbs, Chinese---verbs are more preferable than nouns.
  3. translation should be idiomatic.
  4. translation criteria: faithfulness, fluency and elegance.
